Coursing With Type-R Blood — Honda Civic Si

This means that the Civic will skip the 2016 model year altogether. There is no indication on pricing for the Civic Si at this point.

Japanese auto manufacturer Honda is working on the Type S version of the all-new Civic that will reportedly be a 2017 model, according to theCivicX forum.

For the previous generation and the eighth generation before it, the Honda Civic Si has always maintained a horsepower output of around 200hp, so this would be the first major bump in power in over two generations of Civic Si. The Type R should be available across many different markets though it's still unknown which body styles will receive the Type R treatment - we're only definite about the hatchback version for now. This one won't be ready in time for the 2016 model year iteration, as it has been slated to reach dealerships either in the late fall 2016 or early spring 2017.

To sit between regular 2016 Honda Civic and Honda Civic Type-R, the 2016 Honda Civic Si is likely to pack a bigger 2.0L VTEC Turbo engine from the Euro-spec Honda Civic Type-R, which could be detuned to produce 230 hp.

Sitting between the axle and the motor though will still be a standard six-speed manual only.

We'll keep an eye out for more details on the upcoming Civic Si and let you know when we learn something new. The Si will still come in both sedan and coupe form.
