Miss Universe Contenders Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia Respond to Crowning Mistake

According to the pageant, a misreading led the announcer to read Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the victor before they took it away and gave it to Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Pia was shocked as Steve Harvey came out on the stage December 20 and announced to the contestants along with the millions of viewers at home watching, that he had made a terrible mistake and accidentally crowned Miss Colombia. And just seconds later, he was forced to retract his statement announce that runner-up Miss Philippines was, in fact, the real victor.

The former owner of the Miss Universe pageant, Donald Trump, is having a field day following the show's big gaffe Sunday night, where host Steve Harvey named the wrong victor. Pia has some words for Steve Harvey and the Miss Universe organization.

Harvey took the blame, saying he read the cards wrong, something he does for a living for quite a lot of time. The contestant from the Philippines was the new Miss Universe, not Miss Colombia. Harvey also apologized on Twitter, in a tweet that has since been deleted. The first runner-up is Colombia.

The sudden reversal even caught by the president by surprise, forcing him to reverse his initial celebratory tweet.

Before the error was discovered, Santos wrote: "Colombians!" They put the crown on her head.

The road to the Miss Universe crown is never easy.

"What happened to the girl from Colombia is devastating", said Trump.

If you happened to tune in for the end of the Miss Universe pageant on NBC last night, you were treated to one of the most awkward mishaps on live television in 2015.
