Texas brothers accused in fatal beating of 83-year-old

Police say she died around 9 p.m. Sunday.

Officers arrested Jesse Perkins, Thomas Perkins, 18, and Edward Perkins, 19.

An elderly Irving woman died late Sunday after she was viciously assaulted at random on Friday. Detectives are still investigating the role Thomas Perkins and Edward Perkins played in the attack and their charges could change.

Police were called to a southeast Irving residence around 4 p.m. Saturday, and found Dessie Hancock unconscious on the ground and transported her to a local hospital.

All three suspects are now in Irving jail on $100,000 bond each, according to online records.

Initially, the brothers were arrested on charges of aggravated assault - serious bodily injury, but police said Monday that those charges could be upgraded to murder after Hancock's death.

Her family took her off the ventilator Saturday night, and she passed away the following evening.

There is no apparent reason for an attack on an 83-year-old woman, who died the next day.

Police say there is no apparent motive, but the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators said the suspects came to the same home looking for an acquaintance when they encountered Hancock.
