Arizona's John Scott selected as NHL All-Star game captain

He has one point this season in 11 games with Arizona.

After two months of fan voting for which players would captain those teams, the National Hockey League announced the final results on Saturday. "Fans- I was afraid, that 3on3 all-Star game may kill me, now, I am more afraid, fighting John Scott during All-Star, kill me for sure", Jagr said on Twitter.

The NHL fan voting process is officially flawed, as Phoenix Coyotes' forward John Scott was selected to his first career NHL All-Star game on Saturday, and will captain the Pacific Division team in the new 3 vs. 3 tournament format in the 2016 All-Star Game in Nashville, Tennessee.

Just for fun, here's a compilation video of all five goals Scott has scored in his illustrious career.

The Arizona Coyotes enforcer's candidacy gained momentum through a grassroots Internet movement, which began on a Yahoo Sports podcast, then escalated through Reddit.

To add to the controversy, Scott has been waived three different times this season by the Coyotes, posing the question of if he will even be eligible for the All-Star game.

Washington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin (8) celebrates scoring an empty net goal with teammates T.J. Oshie (77), and Evgeny Kuznetsov (92) during the third period of an NHL hockey game against Buffalo Sabres, Wednesday, D...

Scott was suspended twice last season with the Sharks, including a four-game ban in late December for his role in a fight with Anaheim s Tim Jackman.

Each of the NHL's four divisions had one player voted in, and these four will serve as division captains.

Kane leads the league with 56 points, Jagr is a nine-time All-Star and Ovechkin is the all-time leading scorer among Russian players and plays for one of the top teams in the league.

The remaining 40 players for the four teams will be decided by the NHL's hockey operations department and will be announced January 6.
