The Sitdown: Is Far Cry Primal The Evolution The Series Needs?

Launched today on the PS4 and the Xbox One is Ubisoft's latest game in the evolution of Far Cry though in Far Cry Primal's case our protagonist has devolved all the way back to 10,000 BC. While the Far Cry games have always taken place in lesser populated areas with plenty of wilderness to explore, Far Cry Primal takes things a step further by taking place in a past era where sabre tooth tigers and woolly mammoths can be found roaming the fields. "Not only will enemies be more challenging, but Takkar will be more vulnerable to attacks, making every hostile encounter a more tense battle for survival".

It was really tough to give up preconceived notions about what we imagined Far Cry Primal was going to be like.

The patch notes from Ubisoft state that in Expert Mode, Takkar's health is halved compared to hard difficulty.

It's worth noting that "Far Cry Primal" also features more than one kind of language, so players should not be surprised when they begin to find different characters using unfamiliar words.

Damage delivered by the player is also reduced to create a more authentic take on warfare as it existed in the timeline of Far Cry Primal and to increase the duration of engagements.

According to Guyot, players will have to deal with animals on a regular basis inside the game, whether it's through taming them and eventually being able to command them as allies or through hunting them down for food and other resources.
