Ted Cruz accuses Trump of spreading infidelity rumors; Trump denies it

Romney and Trump have sparred via social media since then, and Romney has appealed to voters to support John Kasich and Marco Rubio in subsequent primary elections and he recently announced he would cast a vote for Ted Cruz in the Utah caucuses.

In a head-to-head match-up with Hillary Clinton, Trump trails 50 to 40 percent. First, addressing the inevitable "pledge" to back Trump if he won, Cruz said that he didn't "make a habit" of supporting people who smeared his family.

The ads are part of the group's broader "Party of Trump" campaign and link to a website and a video with clippings of Republican Senate incumbents and candidates, which the group refers to as "ReTrumplicans", saying they will support the GOP nominee.

But the businessman noted the tabloid accurately broke the 2007 story of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards' adultery.

"I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week's issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it", Trump said.

But The Donald's image among women in general, and Republican women in particular, is historically bad and getting worse.

"Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had", claimed the publication citing a Washington insider as a source, according to Gawker. "In exchange, Kasich could lay off winner-take-all states where only Cruz has a chance to beat Trump: Wisconsin, Indiana, Nebraska, Montana and South Dakota", Wasserman writes.

On Wednesday night he escalated things when he re-tweeted side-by-side images of Cruz's wife, with an unflattering grimace, and Melania in a gauzy, glamorous pose.

It all started with a super political affairs committee which campaigns for Cruz ran an ad with a nude picture of Melania. Amanda Carpenter, a former Cruz communications director who appears as a political commentator on CNN, was questioned by pro-Trump columnist Adriana Cohen on a midday program. "I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin' Ted Cruz".

Survey respondents also expressed concerns with Trump's policy positions and campaign style. Remember when Donald Trump attacked Jeb Bush's wife? Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you're more of a coward than I thought.

To Trump's critics, the attacks on Cruz are just the latest in a troubling pattern of reducing women to their physical appearance and disparaging them in exceptionally personal ways.

On Thursday, Ted Cruz, campaigning in Wisconsin, was livid. Cruz is accusing Trump and "his henchmen" of spreading false rumors that Cruz has cheated on his wife, Heidi.

Packer said Trump's standing with female voters could also endanger the GOP's hold on the Senate or even the House. "I think Heidi is the most lovely, brilliant, amazing, fantastic, loving mom, an incredible wife and she's my best friend in the whole world and I love you with all of my heart".
