Schweinsteiger 'dreaming' of United success

Schweinsteiger, who calls time on his global career tonight in a friendly against Finland, has two years left on the contract he signed after arriving from Bayern Munich in 2015.

The German has been looking to move outside Europe for personal and financial reasons, with Major League Soccer and the Chinese Super League his most likely destinations.

McKenna, 30, started his career as a midfield player for Enniskillen Town in Northern Ireland.

"You cannot play 70 games per season".

I have spoken to Mourinho and have no problem with him.

"In the previous year, things went well (at Man Utd) until I was banned (from the first-team). I believe in my abilities".

"Of course, Manchester United have strengthened their squad a lot, but in the Premier League nothing is decided at the beginning of the season".

Schweinsteiger, having ruled out moving to another European club, admitted that a move to the United States is "certainly an option" if his Old Trafford exile does not end.

"My absolute dream would be to play for Manchester United and help them reach their goals", Schweinsteiger told a news conference ahead of his final match for Germany, a friendly against Finland in Monchengladbach on Wednesday.

"He has developed as a coach and I am pleased to have played for him". And on Friday, the Schweinsteiger-to-America train picked up steam when Sports Illustrated's Grant Wahl reported that the Chicago Fire are interested in the 32-year-old midfielder.

The 32-year-old is set for his worldwide farewell when Germany take on Finland in Monchengladbach on Wednesday evening. Until my suspension it went really well previous year, after that the two injuries happened. If I get a fair chance, I believe in it. It's not all about highs, there are also lows but I can deal with it.

"I'm so happy that I was able to make it to 120 games for Germany", said Schweinsteiger.
