Stranger Things Season 2 is Officially Happening Next Year

After lots of rumors and speculation, it's now finally official: Netflix has renewed Stranger Things for a second season.

A report by Entertainment Weekly reveals that Stranger Things season 2 will feature four new characters which will join the core cast. Though with the assistance of this massive Stranger Things Reddit thread, we discovered some interesting clues.

"I don't think we ever thought anthology", Ross Duffer told EW.

With that in mind, they say that Mike, Joyce, and Dustin will be returning for the second season, though they didn't say whether or not Eleven will return, deciding to leave that one up in the air. "There's a comfort factor in that we know people love and have responded to this world and these characters. So I think we kinda looked to him and what he does and tried to capture a little bit of the magic of his work". Although the Duffer brothers thought about doing a time jump, apparently they have chose to continue the story in 1984 because they feel that there are still plenty of stories to be told in the 1980s, as there are plenty of unresolved storylines and issues.

"That would be really cool if I got to sing", Matarazzo said in a response to a question about whether he'd be showing off his impressive pipes in the new season.

Season 2 will be set in 1984, debuting in 2017 and will consist of nine episodes (the first season had eight).

Things are about to get even stranger. We want it to have the same feel and pacing as season 1.

"We obviously have this gate to another dimension, which is still very much open in the town of Hawkins".

The second season will have one more episode than the first - although that won't stop fans from crying out for more.
