Donald Trump won USA popular vote; Clinton won California

The votes in most states are still coming in, and MI remains too close to call, with Trump now leading by just over 11,600 votes out of nearly 4.8 million votes cast a margin of just 0.2 percent.

Stein, who has raised millions of dollars from supporters to help pay for the costly recount efforts, blasted back at what she called "a politically motivated attempt by Bill Schuette to side with #Donald Trump in opposition to a fair and accountable voting system".

Mook and Clinton Chief Strategist Joel Benenson recalled that the race was fluid in the final two weeks, and defectors from both Clinton and Trump were considering third-party candidates.

"Mr. Trump is unfit to serve".

"His scapegoating of so many Americans, and his impulsivity, bullying, lying, admitted the history of sexual assault and utter lack of experience make him a danger to the republic", the petition reads.

Filed by social activist Daniel Brezenoff, the petition is an unconventional way of altering the result of a USA election.

A greater danger to the constitutional republic bequeathed to the American people can not be imagined.

"Casting your ballot for Hillary preserves majority rule - the "sense of the people" - and prevents the most unqualified candidate in history from taking office", an enclosed letter to Electoral College voters reads.

In the past, a clear majority favored amending the U.S. Constitution to replace the Electoral College with a popular vote system. "However, in 14 of the states in Trump's column, they can vote for Hillary Clinton without any legal penalty if they choose". Members of the college are supposed to vote for whoever won their state, but could theoretically change their mind.
