The Obama and Bush sisters tour a White House bedroom.

They recalled their first meeting with the girls at the Washington mansion back in 2008, where they showed them around the halls and offered them advice as children who had lived through what they were about to.

On Monday, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama got a chance to watch kids at a family shelter in Southwest Washington play on a swing set that once belonged to daughters Sasha and Malia.

In the offering, open letter Barbara and Jenna also advised the girls that they have to look forward in life.

"But you have so much to look forward to".

"You attended state dinners, hiked in national parks, met global leaders and managed to laugh at your dad's jokes during the annual Thanksgiving turkey pardon, all while being kids, attending school and making friends".

Jenna Bush Hager recently shared the images of the November 18, 2008, visit with TODAY. Meanwhile, Malia is set to attend Harvard University this year after taking a gap year between school and college.

"And you won't have the weight of the world on your young shoulders anymore", they said. "Explore your passions. Learn who you are".

With five days remaining in President Barack Obama's tenure in the White House, Sasha Obama added what may be the final nod to her family's musical taste when she was spotted wearing a "dad hat" from Drake's OVO collection. The girls have spent much of their childhood in the White House, and have gained just as much respect as their father from the public during this time.

"You have listened to harsh criticism of your parents by people who had never even met them". Your parents, who put you first and who not only showed you but gave you the world.

The twins close the letter by letting the Obamas' daughters know that they will be rooting for them. "And so will we".
