Ellen DeGeneres thanks Barack Obama for "changing her life" US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has paid tribute to outgoing US President Barack Obama for legalising same-sex marriage during his tenure.

Obama wore a belted maroon print dress with black suede pumps to greet President Donald Trump and Melania Trump, the new first lady, at the White House on Inauguration Day.

The Obama Foundation will oversee the Obama Presidential Center, to be located on Chicago's historically black South Side. "It'll be a living, working center for citizenship".

A skeleton staff was scheduled to be on hand Friday morning as Obama welcomed Trump for the traditional tea service before leaving for the inauguration and his swearing-in at noon.

The Twitter account @POTUS was made available to President Trump's administration January 20, 2017, according to the White House.
