First RAW Match Confirmed For WrestleMania 33

First RAW Match Confirmed For WrestleMania 33

With the Owens-Goldberg match later being made official, it falls in line with what many have predicted entering WrestleMania - Goldberg and Lesnar fighting for the universal title.

Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho were in the ring when Goldberg decided to make his rebuttal to Lesnar and Heyman.

Strowman got the match after he beat four opponents in a handicap match and then told Mick Foley backstage that he was exhausted of not being challenged.

Goldberg's title shot was announced on WWE Raw last night, while his Wrestlemania match was also confirmed on the show.

While Rollins was not present backstage, Brock Lesnar was at Raw, and while he did not appear on the televised segment, he appeared after in a dark segment. By having Lesnar and Goldberg fight over it, it may raise the title's prestige and value in the eyes of fans, both hardcore and casual fans alike.

The Fastlane main event will certainly bring an added element as Goldberg has now confirmed that he will be facing Lesnar at WrestleMania, a month later.

The 50-year-old superstar returned to the WWE last October 17, 2016, on Monday Night Raw after a 12-year absence.

One week after officially being challenged to the rematch by Lesnar, who was annihilated in 1:24 by Goldberg in their first meeting three months ago at Survivor Series, Goldberg came to the ring live on Raw and accepted.

Jericho tried to stand up for his best friend, but Goldberg stared him down, intimidating Jericho enough to accept the Universal Championship match on Owens' behalf. John Cena is set to defend the WWE Title at Sunday's Elimination Chamber pay-per-view against AJ Styles, The Miz, Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. Goldberg vs. Lesnar can only be justified as the main event if it involves the Universal Championship and that may be why Goldberg might win the title.
