Mark Wahlberg Left Super Bowl LI Early, Misses Patriots' Amazing Comeback

Mark Wahlberg presents himself to the world as a dyed-in-the-wool "Boston guy".

Mark - who is an avid sports fan - has insisted he is a huge Patriots supporter and feels tremendously proud of their latest Super Bowl triumph. He shoulda banged a yooey, as they say, right then and there.

Wahlberg, though? Apparently not so much, if Super Bowl Sunday is any indication.

"Patriots Day" star and New England Patriots super fan Mark Wahlberg is getting ripped on social media for apparently bailing at halftime of the Super Bowl as his beloved Patriots trailed 21-3.

So back to our original question: What gives, bro?

"Trust me, I would have loved to be at the stadium - but family first", he captioned a photo of his family on the field.

Though Wahlberg departed before the game wrapped, he still found ways to revel in the Patriots' win, both celebrating with his family and rubbing it in the faces of Falcons fans Usher and Ludacris. "Doesn't mean I don't love my Patriots too!"

Hmmmmm. Valid reason or lame after-the-fact excuse?

We, of course, can not fault Wahlberg for making the correct parental decision here. He posted several pictures with his children before the game - and they all seemed very happy to be there.

"Hey @giseleofficial, are you excited the @patriots won the Super Bowl?" the National Football League captioned the video.
