Malayam actress Bhavana allegedly kidnapped, molested

For the next three hours, as the auto was driven around Kochi city, she was manhandled and molested.

Police said some persons had been taken into custody for allegedly helping Suni remain at large even three days after the crime that evoked condemnation from various quarters.

The incident took place on the night of Friday, February 17, when the actress was returning home from a shooting assignment.

According to media reports, Kochi police have already arrested Martin, the driver of the Malayalam actress Bhavana, on charges of kidnapping and molesting her.

Martin, driver of the actress' vehicle, had been arrested earlier for allegedly conspiring with the gang that executed the crime. The hunt for mastermind Pulser Suni alias Sunil Kumar is on, he had earlier worked as a driver for some noted Malayalam film actors, including actor-turned politician Mukesh.

The prime suspect, in this case, is goon Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni who fled the scene after the incident.

They have registered a case of rape, kidnap, criminal conspiracy and wrongful restraint.

Police suspect that blackmailing was the motive behind the crime. The incident happened in Ernakulam, Kochi.

Bhavana, who is learnt to have filed a formal complaint with the police, made her debut in the Malayalam film Nammal in 2002 when she was in 11th grade.

The actress in her complaint to police, said her vehicle was last night hit from the rear by a auto at Athani, about 38 km from here. "The investigation is going in the right direction". She was also allegedly molested. The police are looking into all aspects of the incident and will probe if this was a planned move against the actress. She was seen in Telugu films like Ontari, Mahatma; last seen opposite Ajith in "Aasal" in Tamil films. Police have reportedly got a lead on the culprits.
