Motorcyclist beheaded in freak accident on California road

A California man was decapitated Tuesday morning in a motorcycle accident, leaving behind a newlywed wife who is four months pregnant, PEOPLE learns.

The driver of the auto lost control of his vehicle and struck a mailbox before driving across a home's yard, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. The downed pole sent wires onto the road, police told the newspaper.

Minutes later, a motorcyclist identified as Fabian Zepeda, 27, drove into the wire and was decapitated.

Police say the Taurus driver didn't appear to be intoxicated and wasn't immediately arrested, pending further investigation.

The vehicle continued down Adams Street until it struck a wooden utility pole, sending the wires across the roadway, he said.

A motorbike rider was decapitated in a gruesome freak accident when an out-of-control driver knocked down a utility pole that left a veritable garrote of wires stretched across a suburban street.

"Fabian Zepeda was a loving son, husband, brother, and friend". "I am now 4 months pregnant with our baby girl", she continued. "I am very happy to keep a little blessing from my husband".

The case will be forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office for review and possible filing.

She said she, her relatives and her husband's family were in mourning, but "we are all trying to remain strong for Fabian's honor".
