Jerry Jones makes statement after releasing Tony Romo

Manning dominated Romo early in their rivalry, including a win in the 2007 NFC divisional round in Dallas that was part of the Giants' Super Bowl playoff run. Romo then looked for other teams to continue his playing career.

Instead of joining either the Houston Texans or the Denver Broncos, Romo has made a decision to retire and replace Phil Simms in the broadcast booth at CBS Sports.

The T's and I's have apparently been crossed and dotted on Tony Romo's new contract with the CBS Sports team!

Romo will take over for Phil Simms as the lead analyst for CBS' NFL game package. Many people speculated that Romo would be joining a new team this offseason after new Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott emerged as the starter, but Romo ultimately decided it was best for him to retire.

"Going from one legendary team to another as I begin the next phase of my career is a dream come true", Romo said in a statement. He also had drawn interest from Fox and NBC. "And I think they know that he'll do well at his next career of broadcasting just like he did in football", says Ramczyk. "I am ecstatic for the opportunity to work with Jim as I learn the craft and convey to fans my passion for this great game".

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Romo is expected to be released by the Cowboys on Tuesday and leave the National Football League to pursue a career in broadcasting.

With Romo stepping away altogether, the Broncos will go into next season with Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch to battle it out to be the starting quarterback. Dallas Cowboys signed him as a free agent and he spent two years as a holder before he became the main quarterback for Cowboys since 2006 season and delivered great passes in the games.

Head coach Jason Garrett added: "That relentless spirit that Tony plays with is contagious". The soon-to-be 37-year old is now the franchise's career leader in passing yardage (34,183), passing touchdowns (248) and passer rating (97.1 - 500 attempts or more).
