Premier League Sunderland, West Ham draw 2 - 2

Wahbi Khazri equalised for Sunderland direct from a corner in the 29th minute as the hosts recovered from falling behind to Andre Ayew's fifth-minute opener for the visitors.

Moyes, who revealed Jones had been taken to hospital for checks, but was conscious, said: "I thought we played well today".

With six games remaining, though, Sunderland is nine points from safety but it has a game in hand over Hull - the team directly above the drop zone.

He said: "Honestly, that's as positive as I've felt after a game for a long time".

In the second half, West Ham fought back with a second goal, but Sunderland, had to wait till the 90th minute before Borini found the back of the net for a crucial drawer.

"In our situation, we can only get out of it together, not individually".

He said: "When you're a football manager, if you're not doing well, you expect to be criticised". After what has been an absolutely terrible couple of weeks for him personally following the death of his father, he returned to the side today and gave an assured performance against one of the most powerful attackers in the division. If we are talking about the goalkeeper for that goal, it's very hard for a goalkeeper. We know we have the squad and the team to move up the league and finish as high as we can.

"I'm disappointed with both goals, but not disappointed generally with the play".

Cattermole was also thrilled to see Wahbi Khazri back to his best.

Moyes' side will be targeting an immediate return to the top flight, and they will give the Scottish boss funds to spend. As it stands, three points would put Slaven Bilic's side nine points clear of the relegation places with five games to play - a relatively comfortable position at this late stage of the season.

Fabio Borini says problems inside the Sunderland locker room is at the heart of their relegation woes.

"We did it last season, the three of us up front - me, Wahbi and Jermain Defoe - we did well".

Nothing has really gone right for David Moyes this term and his reputation continues to diminish since leaving Everton back in 2013 to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

Harry Maguire eventually took advantage of some poor Stoke defending at a corner to level matters in the 51st minute.

"I had to see it again to see where people were, but we sort of got dragged open a bit there".

Fans chanted for him to be sacked for the first time on Saturday, and this during one of their better performances in which they finally scored a goal after 701 minutes without one.
