New Hyundai Xcent to be launched tomorrow

Though pricing aspect is not known for now, we believe it might be priced between Rs 5.5 lakh - Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of a by a 5-speed manual unit. This motor will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

The 2017 Hyundai Xcent comes with a restyled front facia, the highlight of which is the new and much more aggressive looking front bumper.

The side profile of this compact sedan remain identical to the earlier model, however, the 2017 Xcent now comes with new alloy wheels. It will also feature daytime running LEDs placed in the fog lamp housing. The silhouette of the vehicle remains identical to the current model, though it now comes with a new set of 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels on the top-end models. The diesel version will now be powered by a 1.2-litre engine that generates around 74bhp and 190Nm of torque.

From images and details that have already surfaced on blogs and websites, the 2017 Xcent will get updates similar to what the new Grand i10 received. Over to the rear and the changes come in the form of upgraded wraparound tail lamps which seek to give the auto a contemporary look. It will also receive Hyundai's Alternator Management System (AMS) tech, which charges the battery only during deceleration or when the engine has power to spare, saving fuel in the process.

The rear end features 2-piece taillights that are much wider than the units found on the pre-facelift model. The company will offer the new Xcent in E, E+, S, SX and SX (O) grades.

The Xcent segment is one of the largest and competitive segments in the Indian market and Maruti Suzuki's Dzire leads the space.

In terms of safety features on offer, the Xcent facelift gets dual airbags as standard across the range.

Interestingly, Hyundai will continue to sell the pre-facelift model, which will be called the Xcent Prime. The Xcent also competes with the likes of the recently launched Tata Tigor and other compact sedans like the Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo and the Tata Zest.
