NFL Players React to Death of Aaron Hernandez

The double murder charges were brought against Hernandez after he had been convicted of the shooting murder of an associate, Odin Lloyd, in 2013, in North Attleborough, Massachusetts, near his home and the Patriots' Gillette Stadium. One of those steps was to install clothing hooks that collapse if a significant amount of weight is placed on them.

The child molestation conviction of former Roman Catholic priest John Geoghan, a key figure in the clergy sex abuse scandal that rocked the Boston archdiocese, was vacated after he was beaten to death in 2003 in his cell at the same MA maximum-security prison.

What was your reaction to the news of Hernandez's death?

Prison officials at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Centre in Shirley, Massachusetts, found Hernandez hanging in his prison cell at 3:05 a.m. EDT (0705 GMT). He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

Hernandez was drafted by the Patriots in 2010 and spent three years with the team, scoring a touchdown in their Super Bowl XLVI loss to the New York Giants.

Authorities offered few answers after Hernandez was found hanging from a bedsheet Wednesday in his cell in a maximum-security prison in MA, where he was serving a life sentence for the 2013 slaying of a onetime friend.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James said: "We are aware of the reports but I don't anticipate that we will be commenting today".

The department said Hernandez hanged himself with a bed sheet attached to his cell window. Abreu and Furtado have killed a vehicle after leaving a Boston nightclub in July 2012, weeks before Hernandez reported to Patriots camp ahead of his third and final season with the Patriots. Hernandez was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

"Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population unit", the statement reads. Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.

MA prison officials say former National Football League star Aaron Hernandez has hanged himself in his cell and has been pronounced dead at a hospital.
