Nintendo Switch is the fastest-selling Nintendo system ever

Nintendo Switch is the fastest-selling Nintendo system ever

There's been an electric feeling in the air since Nintendo's launch of the Switch on March 3.

Do you think Nintendo would launch a Nintendo Switch Mini? Combine that with half a million in Japan and you've already got almost 1.5 million of these things, not counting Europe (where we don't have up-to-date numbers).

This, unsurprisingly, makes it the fastest selling Zelda game in Nintendo's history, too. That's a pretty incredible considering they sold more copies of the game itself than systems. Where its long-term game stands has yet to be seen, as it's still working to make the system readily available to buyers interested in it.

Nintendo Co shares jumped as much as four percent after the company said its new Switch console is off to a record-setting pace in the USA since its March 3 debut.

It's also predicted Nintendo will have sold 25.7 million Switch units by the time this smaller console launches - a fairly ambitious goal.

Places like NowinStock.com have continually shown that the Nintendo Switch has stayed sold out across the US, and Japan. The console is also sold out in parts of Europe and Japan.

“Nintendo always strives to offer consumers something fun, new and different, ” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of Americas President and COO. We still don't have worldwide sales numbers for the console, but Nintendo promised to provide those during its April 27 fiscal earnings report. Broken down, it was 925,000 for Switch, and 460,000 on Wii U. Surprisingly enough, that means more copies of Breath of the Wild for Switch than Switches themselves. most likely due to availability.

All this comes shortly after the announcement that Nintendo would discontinue the NES Classic Edition, with the final shipments going out this month.

But it's Nintendo with the momentum coming out of the first quarter of 2017, and it could maintain that success throughout the summer with launches like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, and Splatoon 2.
