Aaron Hernandez found dead

He hanged himself using a bed sheet that he attached to a cell window.

"And certainly somebody who is in a really high-profile position is also somebody that would be considered to be needing of an extra level of assessment as to whether or not they need some sort some of treatment or services", Newman-Polk said.

"It's an unusual circumstance, and we would have to prepare carefully before we decide to go about it", said Thompson, Hernandez's lawyer.

Hernandez was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder of Odin Lloyd, who had been dating his fiancee's sister. Massachusetts State Police, the Worcester County District Attorney's Office and the Correction Department are investigating the death.

His former Patriots teammates visited the White House and met with President Donald Trump on Wednesday in honor of their Super Bowl win.

Baez's law firm will also conduct their own separate investigation into what happened.

Hernandez's family wanted his brain turned over to Boston University's CTE center, his attorney Jose Baez said.

There is an interesting twist to the lawsuit against Hernandez that just arose following the former tight end's death.

Less than a week ago, a jury had cleared Hernandez of killing Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in a 2012 drive-by shooting after a fight outside a nightclub in Boston's South End.

But maybe, Hernandez wasn't murdered at all. A prison friend of Hernandez is now in isolation on "eyeball suicide watch", WBZ-TV reports.

Baez had been helping Hernandez appeal his murder conviction, and as a result of his death before exhausting the legal process, that conviction will be voided. Lawyer Michael Coyne appeared on CSNNE on Wednesday and said Hernandez's bonus money, base pay and National Football League pension could still be paid out if the guilty conviction disappears. "Today my heart hurts as I got the worse news I could have imagined", he said. Prison officials say he was found hanged in his cell early Wednesday in a high-security prison in MA. Hernandez was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, the Associated Press reports. At the time, Hernandez had a $40 million contract with the Patriots.

Hernandez's agent said he doesn't believe that he would have taken his own life, as Hernandez's lawyers said they are looking to start their own investigation, which is on top of the investigation now being done by the District Attorney's office. He was cut from the team shortly after he was arrested in Lloyd's killing in June 2013.
