Liverpool Players React To The Victory At Stoke

Coutinho started Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Stoke City on the bench, after being forced off midweek when he complained of feeling unwell at half-time.

Jonathan Walters had put Stoke 1-0 up heading into the interval on Saturday, but quickfire strikes from substitutes Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino turned the Premier League game on its head.

"I wanted to be involved and the manager decided, although I was not 100 per cent". This was a big win.

The 24-year-old came off the bench to score his 30th top flight goal and become the Premier League's highest scoring Brazilian.

He also has the most assists (28) and having signed a lengthy contract extension in January, is hopefully ours for the foreseeable future.

With Coutinho having lost three kilograms in three days through illness and Firmino worn out Klopp insists he had no option but to leave them on the bench at the bet365 Stadium.

The win leaves Liverpool in third place, as Klopp looks for his side to secure a fifth win in seven league games against West Brom on Sunday at the Hawthorns.

"We needed to take our chances and capitalise when we were on top", the Welshman told BBC Sport.

"Sadio will, we're pretty sure, need surgery", admitted Klopp.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Redknapp has admitted that he thinks Liverpool need a player just like Tottenham's Son Heung-min; somebody who can chip in with goals when key players are missing, as he has during Harry Kane's absence. It is when they face sides like Stoke that Jurgen Klopp's side have faltered.

"Maybe I am lucky in the end that it worked out, but I thought a lot about it and even when nobody really understands it, it was my decision".

"They don't have to react like that; they can be disappointed but we will help them more than we help anybody else". We will have to see if we [can] bring him in tomorrow.

This time Firmino did well to stay onside while tracking a long-ball from Matip.

"First half wasn't very good, it was very hard".
