Madras High Court quashes maintenance case against Dhanush

(On March 2, the high court stayed the proceedings in Melur court.).

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday quashed a petition filed by a couple in the Melur magistrate court claiming that actor Dhanush is their biological son and should pay them a monthly maintenance of Rs.65,000.

In November a year ago, the couple, Kathiresan and Meenakshi, had claimed that Dhanush was their son who ran away from a hostel when he was in Class 11 and wanted him to pay a monthly maintenance.

The actor's lawyers, however, say this is an attempt to extract money from him.

The elderly couple claim that Dhanush is one of their three children, who did his schooling in RC Higher Secondary School and Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Melur. When he was admitted to Class 11 in Arumugam Pillai Seethaiammal HSS at Thirpuathur in Sivaganga district in 2002, the son escaped to pursue a career in acting.

The couple had mentioned that as a school boy Dhanush ran away to Chennai and they only identified him after watching his films.

The court had asked the couple to come up with solid evidences to prove that Dhanush is their son.

After constant denials and trails, Dhanush won the case against them and HC court dismissed all the links of the actor with the couple and it has been proved that has been no link of him with the couple. The couple had claimed that Dhanush had a mole but the medical reports did not find any such mark on his body. Dr M R Vairamuthu Raja, Dean of the Madurai Medical College (MMC), and Dr Meenakshi Sundaram, Vice Principal of MMC, stated in the report that no mole over the left collar bone or scar on the left elbow were seen.
