Mourinho: Why I didn't pick Martial against Chelsea

Manchester United face Anderlecht in their quarter-final second-leg of the Europa League, just one week after drawing 1-1 in Belgium.

Rashford was one of many home players guilty of missing chances when the tie was level, but was relieved to see Jose Mourinho's side eventually win 2-1 on the night and claim a 3-2 aggregate triumph to reach the last four.

Mourinho gave his honest opinion on Anthony Martial when he said, "Do I think Anthony is a player with great potential?"

"His experience, his know-how of this knock-out phase - I think he's a player that can be useful tomorrow [Thursday]".

"David's priority to play Premier League but I don't like the complete separation".

"People are saying, 'Are you going to prioritise the league or the cup?' We have got to fire on all fronts".

The Portuguese manager stressed that although Martial is a player with great potential, it is high time for the striker to start adapting to what he likes.

He said: "This is a player who had not scored since September but I stuck with him and I stuck with him because I trust him. Yes, I think. But he needs to give me things that I like very much". Mourinho has already said that his priority is to win the Europa League as it guarantees a trophy United have never won before as well as a spot in the group stages of the Champions League. We believe that as a result of this alignment will lead to a fairly open confrontation, where the case has two goals will not be limited.

The Europa League was the competition in which Rashford made his senior breakthrough last season, scoring twice on debut against FC Midtjylland as an 18-year-old unknown. If they don't score a goal, they are out. Mourinho's squad selection was criticized before that fixture, with his starting XI indicating his focus on the Europa League, even though the team produced arguably their best performance of the season.

"He's working, he's improving and, if in this session the answer is positive, I will select him to be on the bench". You always hope to be the number one and it is something you work for every week. I can not say every match is for one or the other.

Sergio Romero played in goal but had little chance with Sofiane Hanni's equaliser.

Rashford had a cracking game against Chelsea where he stunned the Premier League leaders with the opening goal.
