Nintendo Sold Close to a Million Switch Systems in March (NTDOY)

The only answer for more copies of Zelda being sold than units of the Switch is fans are buying gear and games before they buy the Switch.

At least according to Nintendo and NPD Group sales numbers, which show the hybrid handheld-home console sold over 906,000 units in its first month.

The Nintendo Switch game sold more copies than the console itself, IGN notes.

Nintendo Co shares jumped as much as four percent after the company said its new Switch console is off to a record-setting pace in the United States since its March 3 debut.

A lot of that success can be attributed to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" game, which the company claims to have sold over 1.3 million units.

Nintendo also notes that, in the US, the Switch is now its fastest-selling console ever and Zelda is the fastest-selling Nintendo launch game. With its 'Global Testfire' event conducted in March, it appears that Nintendo is finally ready to release the title to almost two million Switch owners.

It also didn't hurt that "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" - an incredible game that received near-universal praise from critics and consumers alike - launched alongside the Switch.

It has been over a month since the launch of Nintendo Switch, which also outsold PS4 and Xbox One for the month of March, and now a report has emerged suggesting Nintendo will launch a Nintendo Switch mini in its fiscal year 2018. The remaining copies were sold for the company's last console, the Wii U.

Nintendo said it sold roughly 906,000 units of the Switch in the US throughout March.

There's been an electric feeling in the air since Nintendo's launch of the Switch on March 3. "While Nintendo Switch sales are off to a record-breaking start, " the company said, "shipments have not yet been able to keep up with such high demand". More than a few gamers have purchased Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch simply because they can't find a Switch console in stores. If so, what games have you bought for it?

Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition has been confirmed by Nintendo during its live stream, where it has also announced detailes regarding the Splatoon 2, Arms and other titles that will be released for 3DS and Switch consoles.
