The 16 Funniest Tweets About This Year's White House Easter Egg Roll

At White House Easter egg roll on Sunday, the most attentive observers noticed that first lady subtly reminded President how to behave during the national anthem.

The Easter Egg Roll event - hosted by the first lady - brought 21,000 people to the White House Monday morning.

The annual "Easter Egg Roll" revolves around children, who set about finding hidden coloured eggs in the garden bushes around the presidential residence and later roll them toward a finish line aided only by wooden spoons.

The annual Easter Egg Roll is the largest public annual event at the White House.

Several members of MLS side DC United attended the lawn party and United forward Patrick Mullins was invited to to meet Barron inside the White House.

Donald Trump attended an Easter church service Sunday at Bethesda-by-the-Sea, an Episcopal church near his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach where he and Melania Trump were married in 2005.

First lady Melania Trump, joined by the couple's son, Barron Trump, then welcomed the visitors to the White House. It began well before Hayes took office, but was given an official designation after the 1878 event. However, Stephanie Grisham, Communications Director of Melania Trump, confirmed that this year's smaller crowd was actually part of the plan.

"Barron asked some of his school friends to come and see him at the White House ..." And, well, since the president is who he is, he got in a little remark about what a great job he's doing, too.

Trump did not deviate far from the traditional message, as he stood next to the Easter Bunny and thanked his wife for her hard work in organising the event. "We will be stronger and bigger and better as a nation than ever before", he said to the crowd of kids during his welcome speech.

"We're doing the egg roll hanging out and having a good time", said participant Cullen Gullott.

It was his first Easter egg roll, and he said while he and his father, Jack, waited for Trump to appear that the experience had been "great".
