Xiaomi launches flagship Mi 6 smartphone in China

Xiaomi launches flagship Mi 6 smartphone in China

In both tests, it outperformed the Samsung Galaxy S8 (1,916 single-core and 6,011 multi-core) and Samsung Galaxy S8+ (1,929 single-core and 6,084 multi-core). The flagship smartphone delivers impressive build quality, stunning design and the latest specifications.

3T has become the industry gold standard in the premium mid-end smartphone category.

The Xiaomi Mi6 is coming up with 6GB of RAM, 5.15-inch display as seen on the Mi 5, and with a Battery of 3350mAh. "I'm really excited to join our Mi fans today to introduce Mi 6, which once again defies price expectations, and I'm looking forward to unveiling even more incredible products in the year to come".

In terms of design and form factor, the Mi 6 is similar to its predecessor, the Mi 5. Similarly a dual LED and tone flash is placed right next to the cameras on the curved back side and the official Xiaomi logo. This phone has dimensions of 145.17x 70.49×7.45 mm and weighs 168g and 182g (ceramic). As its name suggests, this model sports a ceramic back cover which is just stunning. However, it seems as Mi 6 has given a tough competition to the most coveted smartphone. The Mi 6 does, however, boast stereo speakers, Qualcomm's Sense ID fingerprint authentication with the fingerprint scanner embedded under the display, and a USB-Type C port.

It's a good looking device, to be sure. Now there's a Midnight Black Limited Edition variant in the market as well. The Mi 6 isn't any different in that way. Yet another humdinger from the firm, it's generously kitted out with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor and 6 gigs of RAM. However, it is still disputable whether the phone will be able to function using all of its 6GB RAM.

As expected, the Mi 6 has employed a 2.45GHz Snapdragon 835 chipset for handling the smartphone's day-to-day processes.

The back of the Xiaomi Mi 6 has a dual-lens camera with two 12MP lenses. The camera is also backed by 4-axis optical image stabilization. The front camera consist of 8MP for selfie shooters. You get 2X optical zoom and a 10X digital zoom with high details. Xiaomi confirmed that the Mi 6 comes with new MIUI optimisations which enables the Mi 6 to last up to a full day.

Additionally, all the smartphones feature fingerprint sensors. While this may sound like an exciting phone on the outset, Xiaomi have taken the road less travelled and have made a decision to remove the headphone jack. The 2×2 802.11ac MU-MIMO Wi-Fi greatly enhances Mi 6's wireless performance, enabling better reception indoors, with fewer blind spots. While OnePlus learned the lesson with its OnePlus 3 and 3T. The default storage on offer with the Xiaomi Mi 6 is either 64GB or 128GB, with no option to further boost it. The company's software, known as Oxygen OS, comes with lot of customisation options. The new Xiaomi Mi 6 is also not an exception, with its 64GB version costing 2,499 yuan (about $360 or Rs. 23,410) and the 128GB version costing 2,899 yuan ($420 or Rs. 27,157). The Ceramic edition, on the other hand, will be available at RMB 2,999 (USD 435).

Xiaomi Mi 6 will be available in China as from tomorrow, but there's still no word on the worldwide availability. It may come to India, but the company isn't telling the exact release date.
