Sketch of Maruti Suzuki's new Dzire unveiled

Sales justify DZire's hype: Since its launch in 2008 and through a makeover in 2012, over 13 lakh units have been rolled out of Maruti Suzuki's factories, making it leader of compact sedan segment of players such as Hyundai Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Amaze, Toyota Etios, Volkswagen Ameo and Tata Tigor. Dzire too reflected that drop last fisc, partly due to the fact that as a 10 year-old model it was losing some steam in the market and partly due to capacity constraint and inventory control ahead of the next-gen version launch. The new Dzire Tour is priced starting at Rs 5.24 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Maruti will replace the current Dzire in the market in May with the launch of the new Dzire. From the various spy shots, the design of the new Swift Dzire, now made it look proportionate, auto.ndtv.com reported. It now gets swept back headlamps, silver steel wheels, body-coloured A-pillar, black ORVMs caps and black plastic grille at the front.

The cabin features the same a dual tone theme as well as faux wood trims on the dashboard and door panels. With new lighter platform and body, the new DZire could also run more than the outgoing model in a litre of fuel. In terms of features, the compact sedan gets a Multi-Information Display (MID) in the instrument cluster, power windows, beige fabric upholstery and a manual air-conditioning unit. Under the hood, the DZire will most likely remain the same, with the proven and very successful 1.2-litre K-series petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engines doing the duties.
