Indian forest ranger jumps off house roof to dodge leopard attack

Villagers can be seen running for cover as the leopard jumps from roofs.

A video was captured by an onlooker where the giant cat is seen jumping off the roof trying to pounce a forest personnel. The animal was finally caught by the forest department personnel after undergoing a rigorous 12-hour-long ordeal.

The officer named Vijaynanda Khunta was called after the leopard attacked a teenager in the village, reports Daily Mirror. The leopard then charged a ranger on the roof, forcing the man to jump off to avoid the attack. Thankfully, none of the injuries were life-threatening, and the animal is reportedly being relocated to the Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar. Beside him, two other people were also slightly injured in the incident.

Leopard and lion attacks are very common in Indian villages, especially those that skirt forests.

Facing shrinking habitats, leopards often stray into populated neighborhoods looking for food and have encounters with people.
