Browns plan on taking Garrett at No. 1

The Draft will also be streamed online, via WatchESPN and the NFL Network's website, free with a cable subscription.

Since finishing the 2016 season with a 1-15 record, the Browns had discussed taking either Garrett or ex-North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the No. 1 selection.

"The 6'4" defensive standout from Texas A&M has been widely considered the best player in this year's draft.

Although it's impossible to know for certain, it now seems the Browns are indeed looking at picking Garrett.

Hue Jackson called Garrett a "tremendous player" when discussing the Browns' options earlier this year, and the defensive end said he believed that the coach would make him the top pick.

The Tennessee Titans have given quarterback Marcus Mariota a playmaking receiver by selecting Western Michigan's Corey Davis with the fifth pick in the National Football League draft. Davis is the FBS career leader in receiving yards with 5,285 and was a key to the Broncos' turnaround last season. Instead, they traded the pick to Houston for the No. 25 pick and used it to grab Michigan's all-purpose defensive dynamo Jabrill Peppers, who fills holes at safety and on returns. It was a surprising move, particularly since San Francisco general manager John Lynch was ready to take Stanford defensive lineman Solomon Thomas at No. 2 anyway.

Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett was the first overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft on Thursday, giving the Cleveland Browns an anchor on defense while not addressing the long-standing vacancy for a franchise quarterback. Cam Newton sure must be smiling."Can't wait to grind every single day for that team, the fans, for everybody there", McCaffrey said.More picks and more offense followed.

Chicago traded up from No. 3 to No. 2, swapping picks with the 49ers, in order to take Trubisky.

Cleveland ranked 31st defensively last season and the Browns were 30th in sacks with 26. Their veteran starter has two years remaining on his contract, though Smith becomes affordable to release after next season if Mahomes comes along quickly.

The San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears swapped the Nos.
