Golden State Warriors: 5 Takeaways From Sweep Of Portland Trail Blazers

Stephen Curry had 37 points before sitting out the final quarter as the Golden State Warriors welcomed back teammate Kevin Durant with a 128-103 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday night to sweep their first-round playoff series.

Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic said he expects his leg to be fully healed in 2-3 months.

The Warriors, who finished off a resounding four-game sweep of Portland on Monday, have homecourt advantage throughout the postseason and will host the first two games of the second round.

"We're very confident about who we are and how were going to be successful", Curry said.

When JaVale McGee was on the court for the Warriors during the regular season, they went to a level nobody in the National Basketball Association could compete with.

The Blazers lost that game by 12 points. "They showed their championship pedigree", Blazers coach Terry Stotts said. "Why not?" The catchphrase was born.

"She had me up at 6:00 the morning running around in the snow in boots", McGee said of the awkward event staged by his mother. "I appreciate what the city is doing for me".

However, back off of any of them out of fear of the alley-oop and one of them will create a high percentage shot for themselves or someone else.

Damian Lillard scored 34 points for the Trail Blazers, but it was really no contest against a Warriors team trying to return to the NBA Finals for a third straight year and regain the crown they surrendered last season to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Warriors jumped out to a 14-0 lead at the start.

"I'm sure we'll evaluate this season but this was a roller coaster for us from day one".

McGee said he had a "bad game" as a sophomore on the junior varsity team and didn't perform up to his potential, or for that matter, his family's name. It was unclear when the injury occurred. Curry missed the first three games of that series with a sprained MCL in his right knee, but returned in time to take the series back to Golden State and advance. Portland clinched the eighth and final spot with two games left before finishing at.500. When he's surrounded by four players who can each pass, dribble and shoot, it makes the Warriors unstoppable offensively for obvious reasons.

The offseason gives Nurkic adequate time to heal from the injury.

After a sub-par (for him) regular season, Steph Curry has ramped it up so far in the postseason.

"I think to win in this league you have to have guys who have true confidence".

In almost 10 minutes, McGee had six points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots in the Warriors 121-109 victory over the Trail Blazers in Game 1. In 9.6 minutes per game, McGee shot a career-best 65.2 percent from the field. Allen Crabbe, Evan Turner and Meyers Leonard made close to $50 million combined past year. The Blazers also have three first-round picks in the draft to look forward to. That Golden State no longer needs to worry about Portland gives it a slight edge over the victor of the Jazz-Clippers series from a preparation standpoint.

"I think about when the Pistons were just beating up on Jordan and kicking his butt every year and he had to get through them if he wanted to get to where he wanted to get to", Lillard said.

In general, McGee's ability to get out in transition, roll to the basket and exploit openings makes him a better fit offensively than Pachulia in the starting lineup.
