Fit-again Rohit, Shami in Champions Trophy squad (Second Lead)

Fit-again Rohit, Shami in Champions Trophy squad (Second Lead)

"The BCCI unanimously decided that the Indian cricket team will participate in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. My view is that India must take part in the Champions Trophy", Khanna told ANI.

And with the standard of one-day cricket continuing to go up and up, Croft is confident that this could be the best Champions Trophy yet, with no score seemingly safe as teams continue to chase high totals. Overall, the team looks quite stable on the table.

It remains to be seen whether the 15-member squad unveiled by chief selector MSK Prasad can go on to defend the coveted title. India has never lost a game against Pakistan in an ICC tournament and let's pray that the legacy continues. Anyway the BCCI is also entitled for $ 70 million for hosting the 2021 Champions Trophy and 2023 World Cup.

BCCI's chairman of selectors M.S.K. Prasad had no hesitations in calling the former India skipper "the best stumper" in the world despite his erratic run with the willow in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Another man for whom this event will serve as a good opportunity is Kedar Jadhav.

Manish last played for India against New Zealand in October 2016. Could India have picked a third option for variety?

The selectors considered left-arm unorthodox bowler Kuldeep Yadav before deciding a spin attack comprising Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, aided by part-timer Yuvraj Singh, should be sufficient.

No question marks here. Gabbar also struggled when he last played for India.

The month of May doesn't seem to be a favourite one for erstwhile Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president. The inclusion of Pandya, a pace-bowling all-rounder who can also hit the ball a long way, adds balance to the squad.

Shukla said: "That series [two Twenty20 Internationals] was played on mutual consent. And experience becomes of paramount importance in such a big tournament like this", said Prasad.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni remained India's first choice wicketkeeper.

But, unfortunately, he won't be going to the Champions Trophy right now, not even as a back-up keeper. He would have the support of MS Dhoni who will play in this tournament as a wicket-keeper batsman.

There are no surprises in the squad but a lot of youngsters who have performed well lately in the domestic season as well as IPL have not been included.

Rishabh Pant can consider himself unlucky to miss out.

Some of the other names that were discussed seriously were keeper-batsmen Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, Shardul Thakur and Suresh Raina.

"He is the best person to guide Virat".
