Buffalo Bills target Tre Boston signs with Los Angeles Chargers

Boston spent the first three seasons of his career with the Carolina Panthers after being selected in the fourth round of the 2014 National Football League draft out of North Carolina.

Boston visited the Chargers, and was openly selecting between L.A., the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills beckoning. In 2016, Boston recorded a career-high 10 starts under then-Panthers defensive coordinator and current Bills head coach Sean McDermott.

Boston became expendable for Carolina when it signed veteran Mike Adams this offseason to start at safety across from Kurt Coleman.

The Chargers appear to have fixed that problem, drafting the versatile Desmond King and the hard-hitting Raymond Jenkins in the 2017 NFL Draft, and now persuading Boston to play in Los Angeles. Not only does Boston bring quality depth, but he'll be an upgrade at free safety over Dwight Lowery.

After losing out on Boston, the Bills could look at other available options on the free agent market or remain with players now on their roster. The Bills didn't address safety in the NFL Draft, option to add free agents B.T. Sanders and Jeremy Tyler instead.
