Alec Baldwin: Cabinet Member Praised My Trump Impression

Trump has expressed his disapproval with Baldwin's impression.

THR's Lacey Rose spoke to everyone from Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon to Chris Rock and Melissa McCarthy as they revealed Baldwin's future playing Donald Trump, how McCarthy became Sean Spicer (with help from Kristen Stewart), the joke Aziz Ansari had to cut, and how D.C. chaos is fueling the highest ratings in decades: "You nearly feel like a war profiteer", says cast member Colin Jost. "This thing you're doing is good, it's really good", Baldwin told The Hollywood Reporter.

"He goes, 'I'll get fired if anybody quoted me saying this, but that's exactly what he's like when you do it, '" Baldwin continued.

Speaking about getting into character, Baldwin detailed all the ways he studies the President; watching speeches, off-the-record meetings, along with other Trump encounters.

Alec Baldwin says he's been told his impression of Donald Trump is basically the same as how the real Donald Trump acts

If McCarthy had said no, the role of Spicer would have gone to Beck Bennett, who now plays Vladimir Putin. But my Trump is "Miserable Trump".

The past season of Saturday Night Live has won rave reviews across the board, partly thanks to Donald Trump, the President's administration helping make satire great again.

"She said, 'Well, the person that should really play [TRUMP] is Alec.' And I went, Yeah!"

The combination of Baldwin as Trump and Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer has helped ratings for the show skyrocket. According to Variety, this year is the most watched season of SNL since 1993.
