One surprising theme is how intent Microsoft is on having its desktop OS work in concert with non-Microsoft devices like iPhones and Androids, but a visual design refresh also looms large. Microsoft will also be incorporating more AI into its Azure platform, which is surely good news for developers. Now, Windows will engage with its competitors and look for ways to make customers' experience with those devices better, the Redmond, Washington-based company said.

Windows 10 is also getting a universal clipboard, being another Apple-inspired feature.

Microsoft didn't say when Fall Creators Update will come out. Apple already offers a version of iTunes for Windows that you can download easily, but this new iteration is meant to run on Microsoft's new Windows 10 S operating system.

A handful of new features will try to bridge the gaps between Windows 10 and devices running iOS and Android.

Microsoft Windows 10 will soon enable users to experience Apple Continuity-like features that allow users to start a certain task on one device, and continue the same task on another. The app is simple to use for the non-tech savvy individuals, but yet is a powerful tool that works intelligently to create customised, interchangeable stories at the click of a few buttons.

Timeline remembers exactly what you were doing on your computer, so you can zoom back in time and see what applications, websites or files you were working on this morning.

Terry Myerson, Microsoft Executive Vice President, Windows and Devices Group said, (aimed at the Developer audience) "The Windows 10 Creators Update began rolling out last month to more than 500 million Windows 10 devices around the world". Users will able to copy-paste links, notes, files and more. For the first time Microsoft sketched out its plans for the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

Windows Story Remix appears to be a genuine replacement to Movie Maker.

And starting today, OneDrive also includes an iMessage app for easier sharing on iOS.

Apple's iTunes software is coming to its Windows Store, a development that will help students using a streamlined version of Windows designed for classrooms. Myserson said that Acer will be offering a headset and controller bundle for as little as $399 (the same launch price as the PlayStation VR) when the devices go on sale. That is far less than the $3,000 to $5,000 Microsoft has been charging for another mixed reality headset called HoloLens.
