Could Oblak replace De Gea at Manchester United?

United manager Jose Mourinho claimed on Wednesday that he expects his goalkeeper to be at the club next season, but he will not feature in this Sunday's Premier League finale against Crystal Palace or next week's Europa League final.

Real Madrid nearly signed the goalkeeper in 2015 but the deal fell through as it couldn't be completed before the deadline.

Liverpool turned down bids for the Uruguayan the previous year, most notably from Arsenal and their infamous £40.01million offer, but allowed him to leave 12 months later when Barcelona came calling.

United signed him fro Atletico Madrid in 2011, and he almost moved to their bitter rivals Real in 2015 before botched paperwork scuppered the deal.

"It looked as if the deal was going to go through".

José Mourinho has confirmed that David de Gea will not play for Manchester United again this season but insists the 'keeper will play for the club in their first pre-season game against LA Galaxy in July.

Losing De Gea would be a big disappointment for United fans but bringing in Oblak as his replacement would certainly ease the blow as I think he'd be a superb signing if they could pull it off.

"Maybe I have a decision in my head when he took the ball and I say he is shooting in the right and I go there and it is very good for the group and also for me". I think he's proven again this season to be number one in this country.
