Crash Involving School Bus, Van Reported in Kenosha County

A van rear-ended a school bus in the 24500 block of Wilmot Road around 9 a.m., the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department said.

20 students were on the bus at the time, according to authorities.

Deputies and the Salem Fire Department responded to the scene.

No students were reported injured in the crash, but the driver of the vehicle was "seriously" hurt, officials said. The bus was stopped on its route to Westosha Central High School.

The Ashland County Coroner pronounced the driver of the auto dead at the scene.

Two students on the bus were transported to Memorial Medical Center and the remaining were taken by bus to the hospital for evaluation.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending family notification. The Ashland County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol are investigating the crash.
