James Comey Literally Tried to Hide Behind a Curtain to Avoid Trump

This isn't Amash's first foray into one of Trump's controversies.

He denied media reports from last week that Comey had asked him for additional resources for his investigation before Trump fired him.

A US congressman has said he will call for the impeachment of Donald Trump this afternoon.

President Putin deployed his trademark sarcasm on Wednesday to make clear he thought the accusation that Trump had divulged secrets absurd. At best, President Trump has committed a grave abuse of executive power.

Separate investigations are ongoing in Congress.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed the ongoing scandal around President Donald Trump sharing classified intelligence with Russian officials as "political schizophrenia". He dismissed outrage over Trump's disclosures as USA politicians whipping up "anti-Russian sentiment".

"I think Director Comey should testify before Congress as soon as possible", Rep. Leonard Lance, R-N.J., a moderate lawmaker from a swing district said Tuesday evening.

During a commencement address at the US Coast Guard Academy, Trump urged graduating cadets to follow his example and "fight, fight, fight. But just the fundamental alleged facts in there, it's obviously inappropriate for any president to be trying to interfere with an investigation". It simply means that the House of Representatives will bring charges against the president.

Republican House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte said he was confident Mueller "will conduct a thorough and fair investigation".

The White House has struggled since Comey's firing to explain the chain of events that led to it and who exactly made the decision.

Democrats immediately pounced on The Times' report and called on their GOP colleagues to push for the truth from the White House.

Another reporter asked Amash if he had more confidence in Trump or in Comey.

Officials have previously said that Trump and his senior staff have been pressing the FBI to prioritize leak investigations over the bureau's ongoing probe into possible coordination between Russian officials and Trump associates.

This comes as members of the Trump administration have already been beleaguered over their Russian Federation links. "Memos, transcripts, tapes - the list keeps getting longer", he said.

Mr. Comey wrote the memo detailing his conversation with the president immediately after the meeting, which took place the day after Mr. Flynn resigned, according to two people who read the memo. "I believe it hurts our country terribly, because it shows we're a divided, mixed-up, not-unified country", CNN quotes Trump as saying during a luncheon with TV news anchors.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell paused and answered simply "no" when asked if he had concerns about the president's ability to properly handle classified information in wake of the revelations.

"The president must be impeached", he said.
