Browns claim offensive lineman Chris Barker off waivers from Patriots

The Cleveland Browns have claimed OL Chris Barker via waivers from New England.

Barker, 6-foot-2 and 305 pounds, entered the National Football League in 2013 as an undrafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins. Originally signed by Miami as an undrafted free agent in 2013, Barker has appeared in six regular season games, all with the Patriots.

The Browns cleared space on the roster by waiving defensive lineman Gabe Wright. He played 78 snaps in parts of five games past year, his first in Cleveland.

Barker joins the battle for backup spots on the offensive line with Spencer Drango and John Greco. He played in four games as a rookie and has seen action in two other games while spending large chunks of time on the practice squad.
