Freakish twist as Putin offers 'record'

Press leaks, including to Fox News, later established that Comey had written a memo to himself detailing at least one encounter with Trump where the president had suggested he would like to see any investigation of Flynn ended. Today, the Senate Intelligence Committee made the same request.

Shortly after he was sacked, Comey declined to testify to the Senate Intelligence Committee behind closed doors.

The New York Times and several other outlets reported Tuesday that in February, Trump had urged Comey to end the FBI's investigation into fired National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said after an all-senators briefing from Rosenstein that the deputy attorney general already knew Comey would be fired before he wrote a memo that the Trump administration initially used as justification for ousting the Federal Bureau of Investigation chief. Amash told reporters Wednesday that he thinks "it's pretty clear" that he has more confidence in Comey than he has in Trump, according to Marcos.

Separately, the Judiciary Committee wrote to McCabe asking for all of Comey's memos on both the investigations into the Trump campaign's Russian Federation ties and anything he wrote down about the Hillary Clinton's email scandal, including notes on conversations he had with Trump, former President Barack Obama, and Justice Department officials. His offer added a freakish twist to the furore over Trump's intelligence disclosures.

Burr echoed Warner, saying he wants to "understand the content of the memos" and hear Comey's testimony about "conversations that he had with the president". But we have an obligation to carry out our oversight regardless of which party is in the White House."I'm sure we're going to go on to hear from Mr. Comey about why, if this happened as he allegedly describes, why didn't he take action at the time?". Only about nine Intel staffers are dedicated to the probe. He said Comey would appear relatively soon. Mark Warner, as well as asking Comey to testify.

"I believe the American people will get a chance to hear from Director Comey shortly", Warner said.
