Ivanka Trump to take part in presidential trip

Mr Trump's supporters hope that trip could be an opportunity to put scandals like the firing of James Comey behind him and to launch new diplomatic relationships.

"There are a number of people who the president is next to who are exceptionally loyal to him", Lewandowski said.

Ivanka Trump hosts a meeting on human trafficking with congressional leaders, Wednesday, May 17, 2017, in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington.

Mrs. Trump is accompanying President Donald Trump on his inaugural overseas trip, a four-country, five-stop tour that begins Friday.

Conversations with some officials who have briefed Trump and others who are aware of how he absorbs information portray a president with a short attention span.

"And if you don't think that the president's agenda is the right agenda, then you have the prerogative as a staff member to leave at your earliest convenience", he said.

Officials have also learnt to keep all reports to a single page, and to include as many pictures, maps, charts and graphs as possible.

The official insisted on anonymity in order to discuss planning details.

"He likes to visualize things", said a senior administration official. "He has spent his whole life looking at architectural renderings and floor plans".

Since assuming office, the president has often visited his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida on the weekends but has not yet taken a trip overseas.

Lewandowski was removed as Trump's campaign manager in June 2016. The comment was seen as naive. Democratic President Barack Obama was criticized for bowing to Japanese Emperor Akihito in a visit to Japan in November 2009.

Trump is bucking tradition by journeying away from North America for his first foreign trek - the past five presidents all visited USA neighbors Canada or Mexico as their first venture overseas. She will conclude the trip by delivering remarks to United States military personnel and families in Italy.

Aides are anxious that Mr Trump could end up speaking off-the-cuff and ruin the meetings, said one official.
