Month-old baby killed, family injured in Detroit hit-and-run crash

A silver Grand Prix was traveling southbound when it struck a Town and County minivan westbound on Puritan. The two girls, a 12-year-old brother, their 40-year-old mother and 59-year-old grandmother all were hospitalized in temporary serious condition late Thursday, Moreno said.

After the impact, the van "went up in the air, flipped over and rolled", Moreno said. All four children were thrown from the van after the windows shattered.

"When I stepped outside I saw three children on the ground".

The baby was properly restrained in a vehicle seat when he was ejected. "The mom was picking one up and she was hysterical. someone from down the street, one of our neighbors, rushed them to the hospital", said a neighbor who did not want to be named in this story.

A motorist on Thursday night slammed into a minivan in Detroit killing a 6-month-old boy and injuring three other children before driving off.

Police have released no details regarding the identity of the hit-and-run driver. It is unclear which two were also ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

Investigators say the Grand Prix involved in the crash should have heavy front-end damage.
