NFCA announces 667 student-athletes receive 2017 Division I All-Region honors

"This is a tremendous honor for these players, who have been such a big part of our team success all year", said head coach Jacquie Joseph, now in her 24th season at MSU and recently won her 800th career game a head coach. Her other notable performances against top-75 RPI teams include a 3-for-4, three-RBI showing against James Madison and a three-RBI, three-run game that led the Hokies to a 13-4 run-rule victory over North Carolina on March 19. The Fairfax, Virginia, native led Rutgers and finished seventh in the Big Ten with a.691 slugging percentage, including 12 home runs.

Canfield has enjoyed a breakout season in her first year as the Wolverines' starting second baseman, ranking second on the team with a.394 batting average and boasting 17 doubles, eight homers and 39 RBI.

Outfielder Haley Hayden, outfielder Aleah Craighton, and shortstop DJ sanders received NFCA All-Central Region First Team honors, while catcher Lexie Comeaux was a second team selection, and pitcher Alex Stewart received third-team honors.

Fresh off being named First Team All-Sun Belt, the sophomore from Redmond, Wash., completed the season as the Sun Belt Conference's leading hitter with a.406 batting average.

Mendes' inclusion marks the third straight year that an OU freshman has been on the First Team.

Rivera, the second freshman in the Tiger record books to be named all-region, paced the team with a.380 batting average in 46 games played.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first-, second- and third-team selections. She also ranked second in the league in runs scored (42) and total bases (105), and third in stolen bases (22). She owns career bests in all pitching categories, including an 18-3 record and 1.86 ERA, and leads MI with 43 RBI. All the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American squads.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced that 668 student-athletes from 175 programs have received 2017 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades. She's second in the conference in total bases, RBI/game (0.88) and 21.4 at-bats per strikeout.

Wallace paced the Tigers in hits (56), RBI (47), doubles (18) and slugging percentage (.637).
