Real Madrid join race for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Oblak

Man Utd are seemingly planning for life without David De Gea as reports claim that they're interested in Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak, or Benfica goalkeeper Ederson.

He would be in line to replace De Gea if the Spaniard's move to Real, which has been mooted for several years, was to be completed this summer.

United sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho's preference is to keep De Gea due to his status as one of the world's top keepers. If they're in for him I think he's the number one [target].

It's suggested that the 23-year-old is a prime candidate along with Oblak to fill De Gea's shoes once he leaves, although the Red Devils could face competition from Manchester City for his signature this summer.

Within days of the move breaking down, De Gea committed his long term future to the club.

"Maybe I have a decision in my head when he took the ball and I say he is shooting in the right and I go there and it is very good for the group and also for me".

He will not play either Of United's two remaining games against Crystal Palace next Sunday or against Ajax in the final of the Europa League next Wednesday in Stockholm.

Jamie Carragher believes that David De Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world - just ahead of Manuel Neuer.

Oblak is strong and confident in the air, so he should be well-suited to the rigours of Premier League football, and his reflexes and shot-stopping are truly remarkable even for a 'keeper of his already considerable standing.

He has already said he will give 20-year-old Joel Castro his first start for the club in goal as he saves both his goalkeepers for Wednesday's Europa League Final.
