Baha Mar Casino Opens in the Bahamas

Baha Mar Casino Opens in the Bahamas

The Bahamas resort, Baha Mar, has been in development for over 10 years. After a long-awaited opening, this $4.2 billion, 1,000-acre development in Nassau is finally expected to open its doors. In addition to the three hotel brands (Grand Hyatt, SLS Hotels and Rosewood Hotels & Resorts) and a total of 2,300 rooms, the project also includes a 100,000-square-foot casino, which will be the largest in all of the Caribbean.

This opening comes after a three-and-a-half-year long delay due to the CEO's decision to halt construction in 2015 due to disputes with the Chinese contractor. The project was later seized by the Bahamian government and resold in an effort to revive the tourism industry of the area.

The ribbon was officially cut on April 21, 2017 along the pristine beaches of New Providence in the Bahamas. This marks the birth of Baha Mar as the first of the next generation of great destination resorts, and one of the largest resorts to open in North America.

The Baha Mar Casino offers the latest slot machine technology, 126 table games, sports betting opportunities, ultramodern mobile gaming, exclusive high roller gaming salons and sophisticated restaurants and bars throughout the casino. The island-inspired design is complemented by natural daylight and breathtaking ocean views. Online casino reviews are gushing over this luxury gaming destination.

Guests can expect a one of a kind experience that will rival any of the other top gaming destinations around the world. Baha Mar also includes additional amenities such as 40 restaurants and lounges, a 200,000 square-foot convention centre, 18-hole Championship Jack Nicklaus Golf Course and Golf Club, the first ESPA flagship spa in the Caribbean, and over 30 of the trendiest retail outlets.

Much of this resort's appeal is expected to come from its emphasis on Bahamian culture and the local environment. The idea is to give guests a richer experience than they would get on the typical beach vacation.

Delayed hotel openings are a common occurrence, but Baha Mar's trajectory has been unusually long. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding this project, and now people are anxious to watch and see what happens.
