GOP congressman: God will 'take care of' climate change

Chill out, Earth - the Lord's got this. Pennsylvania Representative Pat Meehan said the US would fall behind on the world stage if Trump leaves the agreement, while Florida Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen tweeted that the "U.S. should be using every opportunity [and] its influence 2 mitigate threat of climate change at home and overseas".

A Republican congressman from MI became the latest politician to endorse the (incredibly flawed) idea that we shouldn't address climate change concerns and should instead leave the problem in God's hands.

Walberg's comments come just as President Trump is reportedly planning to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Accord, a landmark global agreement signed by President Obama previous year that limits greenhouse gas emissions worldwide.

He continued, "I think there are cycles". "Do I think that man has some impact? Yeah, of course." But things head south when he adds, "Can man change the entire universe? No".

"I believe there's climate change", Walberg said, according to a video of the exchange obtained by HuffPost. Walberg isn't the first Republican to invoke God when dismissing concerns about climate change. Sen. Well, as a Christian I believe there is a Creator - a God who is much bigger than us. "He gave us a treasure", Walberg said.

It was reported on Wednesday that President Donald Trump plans to pull the United States out of the Paris Agreement, the landmark 2015 deal in which almost 200 countries promised to address climate change.

Participants walk in front of the White House in Washington during a demonstration on April 29.

"I will be announcing my decision on the Paris Accord over the next few days", Trump tweeted Wednesday morning.
