President Trump: Loretta Lynch's Actions During Clinton Email Probe Were 'Totally Illegal'

Comey testified that he was concerned that Lynch urged him to refer to the investigation into Clinton's emails a "matter" instead of an "investigation". "Totally illegal!", the president wrote.

The debate about a potential obstruction of justice case has been largely divided along party lines. "But it gave the impression that the attorney general was trying to align how we describe our work with the way it was being described in a political campaign".

"I don't know whether it was intentional or not", he said. "I don't see any indication that there was even the potential for corruption here or for obstruction of justice".

In his testimony last week, former FBI Director James Comey said Obama Attorney General Loretta Lynch asked him to call the Hillary Clinton probe a "matter", not an investigation, but Mukasey said that's not breaking the law.

He later became president of Baylor University, where he resigned a year ago from the chancellor role to which he had been demoted amid criticisms of the way the school handled accusations of sexual assault by football players.

Lynch also came under fire for meeting with former President Bill Clinton at an airport in Arizona in June while she was investigating his wife. This person told the New York Times that Comey sought out Lynch's guidance on how to talk about the probe, and that Lynch encouraged him not to acknowledge an ongoing investigation.

He also continued claims of "fake news" stories and that the media should apologize for writing such stories.
