Audi R8 Spyder V10 Plus added to range

German carmaker Audi has revealed the R8 Spyder V10 Plus, the fastest convertible from the luxury auto marque till date. Audi's flagship roadster will deliver the 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kph) sprint in a mere 3.3 seconds, which is three tenths of a second quicker than the regular V10. The folding top mechanism weighs 44kg.

The 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine is paired with a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox, which sends power to all-four wheels.

The R8 Spyder Plus' exclusive new micrommata green paint job gives it a Hulk-like appearance and the optional design package has an anthracite gray single-frame grille and black tailpipe covers.

Now, the Audi R8 V10 Spyder Plus is here to be your drop-top rocketship. The list includes carbon fiber-reinforced plastic seat frames, carbon-ceramic brakes, Nappa leather trim, the top-shelf infotainment system, and a leather-bound, multi-function steering wheel.

In addition to the R8's extensive aluminium construction, carbonfibre components are also widely used. The result is a 25kg reduction over the standard R8 V10 Spyder.

As the "plus" in its name implies, this bad boy is faster, quicker, and more intense than the R8 Spyder V10.

The announcement comes in the wake of McLaren launching its new 570S Spider, one of the R8 Spyder V10 Plus's key rivals. Australian customers are expected to be charged more than the $388,500 starting price for the standard V10 Spyder which arrived in May this year.
