Gym To Be Closed Out Soon For Remodeling Purposes; Multiplayer Mode Perhaps?

Niantic Labs, the company behind Pokemon Go, has confirmed that it will be temporarily closing gyms in the game from the 19 June.

According to the official announcement that was published, any Pokemon that is assigned to the Gym will be returned to the players. Thankfully, he also added that the team will provide updates in time on their social media channels before the Gyms close.

Considering that the upcoming gym shutdowns would be across the board, many players and avid Pokemon GO fans are speculating that the event would likely herald the rollout of a new Pokemon GO feature. In its statement, Niantic assured players that the gym shutdown would be making way for exciting new features to the game, though the developer did not mention nor enumerate exactly what features would be making a debut in the mobile title.

The move, the developers state, is ahead of a new update that was announced earlier in June. Quigley is quoted, saying: "The capture mechanic is fun, but you're a lone wolf, you're going out there on your own". Many players believe that one of these improvements might be the collaborative features that Niantic CMO Mike Quigley has talked about. Maybe you're with friends, but there's not that, kind of, connected experience.

There is no doubt that Niantic will bring in such a feature.

Pokémon GO has some potentially enormous changes incoming. Since the beginning, the ability to play with other trainers and battle against them has been widely requested as the game gets boring in time.
