Lawyer says Trump isn't under investigation

Days after Comey was abruptly ousted, Rosenstein appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate Russian involvement in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

The Post's report indicated that Robert Mueller, who was already involved in the investigation into whether Russian Federation had a hand in the 2016 election, "is interviewing senior intelligence officials as part of a widening probe that now includes an examination of whether Trump attempted to obstruct justice".

US President Donald Trump is reportedly so incensed at claims he is being investigated for obstructing justice in the Russian Federation election probe that he has started screaming at television sets in the White House.

Trump's tweets following the report appeared to confirm the investigation, but his lawyer said it only appeared that way because of the character limit on Twitter.

Shortly after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, the president sent out a tweet threatening Comey that he better hope "tapes" of their conversations.

President Donald Trump's personal lawyer says Mr Trump is not under investigation in the probe into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 USA presidential race, adding that the president has not received any notification that he is being investigated. "And now I get an independent counsel who is going to mess up at least the next year at a minimum.' And who, by the way, you'll notice is expanding his charge", Gingrich said. So, the president of the United States takes action to remove the Federal Bureau of Investigation director, and he has a recommendation from his attorney general and deputy attorney general to take that action.

"Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous 'officials, ' particularly when they do not identify the country ― let alone the branch or agency of government ― with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated", Rosenstein said.

In the letter to Comey informing him of his dismissal, the president said he was acting on a recommendation from Rosenstein. In the interview Trump did with NBC's Lester Holt shortly after firing FBI Director James Comey, Trump described Rosenstein's involvement in the firing.

Todd continued to push Sekulow, asking before the interview closed why Trump seemed obsessed with the investigation even though he insisted he was innocent.

However, Senator Marco Rubio told CNN he does not think Mueller will be fired, but acknowledge he did not think Comey would be axed either. "If that happens Mike Pence will soon become the 46th President". "Witch Hunt", the president wrote in his tweet.

"That the President was not and is not a target of investigation".

The president also tweeted about a poll that gives him a 50% approval rating, adding that it is higher than his predecessor Barack Obama's.

On CBS's "Face the Nation", Sekulow said Trump's tweet was a reaction to the story - not an actual investigation.

Comey made the existence of this investigation public in a March hearing before the House intelligence committee.
